I drive the two blocks to pick up my takeout dinner I could walk I want to walk It's a gorgeous night, mild and warm with a soft breeze I want to walk
But that would mean walking back carrying food Along a major road being passed by perhaps a hundred cars carrying food while fat
A voice whispers in my head the odds are not in my favor Tonight is not my night I would not pass through the world invisibly My daring to exist, to eat food, while fat Tonight, would invite remark
So I drive the two blocks to pick up my takeout dinner |
